What should be done if the immigration office rejects the application for a residence visa because the documents are not complete?

The Directorate General of Immigration released Circular Letter IMI-0702.GR.01.01 on Monday, September 19, 2020, to streamline and expedite stay permit services.

Making sure all paperwork is in order and complies with the standards before applying for a residence permit is one of the procedures performed to speed up the process of issuing one.

When confirming the new policy, Pramella Yunidar Pasaribu, director of immigration stay permit, said: "In the new policy, it is stated that the immigration office refuses and returns incomplete or ineligible application documents to foreigners, guarantors, or person in charge on the same day when the application is received by the immigration office on a walk-in basis, or immediately through the system if the application is received. submitted through the Online Stay Permit Application."

She went on to say that a proof of return that explains why the application was denied or withdrawn because the file did not have all the necessary information or did not comply with the law was included with the application refusal.

To avoid delays in the application for a residence permit when it is sent to the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and the Directorate General of Immigration, the completeness of the files is checked more rigorously. On the applicant's side, the likelihood that his residence permit application will be approved is significantly higher.

"Foreigners or guarantors need not be concerned if they are rejected. Before paying the PNBP costs, the file is promptly reviewed for completeness. Please reapply later when all the documents are finished, she urged.
